Dental emergency? Here’s what to do.

If you have a dental emergency, call (630) 766-0115 at any time. Our phone line is answered around the clock by an automated receptionist, and if you say it’s an emergency, your call is forwarded to Dr. Patel, who is on call. For swelling that affects breathing or swallowing, heavy bleeding that won’t stop, or a serious facial injury, call 911 or go to an emergency room.

Common dental emergencies.

A bad toothache, a broken or cracked tooth, a knocked-out tooth, a lost crown or filling, or swelling in the gums or face. If you’re not sure, call and describe what’s happening.

If a tooth is knocked out.

Pick it up by the crown, not the root. If it’s dirty, rinse it gently without scrubbing. Keep it moist, in milk or in your mouth next to your cheek, and call right away; time matters.

Outside office hours.

Call (630) 766-0115. Our automated receptionist answers 24/7; tell it you have an emergency and your call is forwarded to Dr. Patel. Wednesdays and Fridays are reserved for scheduled surgery, but emergencies may be seen those days when the schedule allows, or Dr. Patel triages by phone.
