Full-arch implants vs. dentures: how to choose.
There are three main ways to replace a full arch of teeth: fixed full-arch implant teeth, a removable implant overdenture, or a conventional denture. Each is a valid choice. The right one depends on your bone, your health, how you want your teeth to feel, and your budget.
Fixed full-arch teeth (All-on-X style).
A full bridge of teeth attached to implants. It stays in place, and only the dentist removes it. It requires implant surgery. At MCDI it typically ranges from $15,000 to $30,000 per arch, and for most immediate-placement cases final teeth typically take about 3 to 5 months. Fees may vary based on individual needs and complications.
Implant overdentures.
A removable denture that snaps onto implants. It’s more stable than a conventional denture and usually needs fewer implants than fixed teeth. You take it out to clean it. Your fee is given in writing during treatment planning.
Conventional dentures.
A removable set of teeth that rests on the gums, with no implant surgery. It remains a good option for many people, especially when surgery isn’t right for them. Your fee is given in writing during treatment planning.
How to decide.
Start with what matters most to you: teeth that stay in, avoiding surgery, cost, or ease of cleaning. Your consultation and 3D CBCT scan show what your bone and anatomy allow, and Dr. Patel will explain each option that fits, including ones that don’t involve implants.
Questions
What’s the difference between full-arch implants and dentures?
Fixed full-arch teeth are attached to implants and stay in. A conventional denture rests on the gums and comes out. An implant overdenture is in between: it snaps onto implants and comes out for cleaning.
Are dentures still a good option?
Yes, for many people, especially when implant surgery isn’t the right fit.
How much does full-arch treatment cost?
At MCDI, typically $15,000 to $30,000 per arch. Fees may vary based on individual needs and complications.
