Equipment in this office

The technology behind your plan.

Every piece of equipment on this page is in our Bensenville office. Here is what each one does for you: 3D imaging to plan implants before surgery, digital scans of your teeth and bite, full-head facial scanning, and in-house 3D printing for temporary crowns and custom appliances.

Scan, plan, place, restore.

  1. Scan: a 3D CBCT scan, digital scans of your teeth and bite, and a full-head facial scan.
  2. Plan: implant position is planned against your bone, nerves, and sinuses before surgery, and new teeth are planned to fit your face.
  3. Place: Dr. Patel places implants in our office, with same-day provisional teeth when clinically appropriate.
  4. Restore: crowns are designed from your scans; long-term temporaries are printed in-house and most final crowns are made by a dental lab; Dr. Patel delivers final teeth himself.

3D CBCT imaging: Carestream CS 8200 3D

A cone-beam CT (CBCT) scan gives Dr. Patel a 3D view of your jaw, teeth, nerves, and sinuses. Implant cases at MCDI start with a CBCT scan, so implant position is planned before surgery. Our unit has an extended field of view, which can capture a larger area of the jaws in one scan.

Digital impressions: 3Shape TRIOS 5 and DEXIS IS 3800W

Intraoral scanners take detailed 3D scans of your teeth, gums, and bite. Those scans are used to design crowns, plan implant surgery, and design new teeth.

Facial scanning: InstaRisa 4.0

Our InstaRisa 4.0 facial scanner captures your face in 3D, so new teeth, especially in full-arch and cosmetic cases, are planned to fit your smile, lips, and profile rather than your teeth alone.

In-house 3D printing and finishing

Long-term temporary crowns and bridges, night guards, and other custom appliances are designed from your scans, then 3D-printed and finished in our office. Most final crowns are made by a dental lab in ceramic or zirconia, materials with a long clinical track record. Printed crown materials are newer, and their long-term performance is still being established, so we mostly use them for temporaries.

CO₂ laser: DEKA SmartXide

Our DEKA SmartXide CO₂ laser is used for QuietNite snoring therapy, a three-session laser protocol offered after a home sleep test and a physician’s diagnosis through Sleepwell.
