Root canal treatment: how our referrals work.
MCDI doesn’t perform root canals in our office. When a tooth needs one, we refer you to a trusted endodontist, a dentist who focuses on root canal treatment, and coordinate your care. A root canal can save your natural tooth, and it’s a real option we’ll discuss alongside any other.
When a root canal is considered.
A root canal treats inflammation or infection inside a tooth. Signs can include lingering sensitivity to hot or cold, a toothache, or swelling near a tooth, though some infected teeth cause no pain at all. An exam and X-rays tell us what’s going on.
How the referral works.
We examine the tooth and explain what we found. If a root canal is the right next step, we refer you to a trusted endodontist and share your records. We share your X-rays and 3D scans with the endodontist so you don’t repeat imaging unnecessarily. After treatment, you usually come back to MCDI for the final restoration, which is often a crown.
Saving the tooth is a real option.
When a tooth can be saved with a root canal, that’s an option worth serious consideration. When it can’t, Dr. Patel explains the replacement options. We don’t treat implants as the only answer.
