Oral surgery
Tooth extractions and oral surgery, with a plan for what comes next.
MCDI performs tooth extractions, socket preservation, and many wisdom tooth removals in our Bensenville office. Complex wisdom teeth close to the nerve are referred out. Before a tooth comes out, Dr. Patel talks with you about what will replace it, so the extraction fits your longer-term plan.
What we do here
- Tooth extractions: removing teeth that can’t be saved or are causing problems.
- Socket preservation: placing graft material where a tooth was removed to help maintain the bone, often in preparation for an implant.
- Wisdom teeth: usually planned from a 3D CBCT scan; many are removed in our office.
- Bone grafting and sinus lifts for implant placement.
When we refer
We prefer a 3D CBCT scan before deciding how to treat a wisdom tooth. Complex wisdom teeth close to the nerve are referred out, and we’ll tell you plainly if your case is one of them and coordinate the referral.
Planning what comes next
When a tooth needs to come out, the question is what replaces it. Depending on your case, options may include a dental implant, an implant bridge, a tooth-supported bridge, or a removable partial denture, and sometimes no replacement is needed. Dr. Patel explains the options before the extraction, so you can decide with the full picture.
Comfort during surgery
Local anesthesia keeps the area numb. For nervous patients, oral anti-anxiety medication is available, and IV sedation or general anesthesia can be arranged in our office, provided by an independent physician or dental anesthesiologist and billed separately by that provider.
