Comfort options

Nervous about the dentist? Start by telling us.

If dental visits make you anxious, you’re not alone, and you don’t have to push through it quietly. MCDI offers oral anti-anxiety medication for nervous patients, blankets, pillows, and music during your visit, and, when a patient needs deeper anesthesia, IV sedation or general anesthesia can be arranged in our office, provided by an independent physician or dental anesthesiologist.

It starts with a conversation

The first comfort option is simply telling us how you feel. Mention it when you schedule, and again when you arrive. Dr. Patel takes time to listen and to explain each step before it happens. Whether it’s been one year or many since your last visit, we start where you are, without judgment.

Oral anti-anxiety medication

For nervous patients, Dr. Patel can prescribe an oral anti-anxiety medication, usually from the benzodiazepine family, taken before your appointment. It’s a minimal level of sedation: it helps you feel calmer, and you stay awake and able to talk with us throughout. Dr. Patel reviews your health history first, and when a medical condition could affect your care, we consult with your physician before treatment.

Before your visit, you’ll receive written pre-operative instructions for your specific case, covering the medication and what to plan for before and after your appointment.

IV sedation or general anesthesia, arranged in our office

Some patients need more than an anti-anxiety medication, for example for longer procedures or strong dental fear. For them, IV sedation or general anesthesia can be arranged in our office, provided by an independent physician or dental anesthesiologist. The anesthesia provider bills separately for their services. Ask us whether this is an option for your treatment.

Small comforts

Blankets, pillows, and music are there for any visit. Just ask.

Polish-language support

Mówimy po polsku. Explaining your worries is easier in your own language. A Polish-speaking member of our clinical team can help; mention it when you schedule.
